Carbon-Carbon Plates In Heat Treatment

GS-CFC70 CFC (Carbon-Carbon) Plates are lightweight, carbon fiber reinforced, high temperature treated composites. These parts offer superior strength and fracture resistance compared with graphite. Carbon-Carbon plates exhibit great resistance from heat, oxidation, thermal shock, and excellent chemical corrosion resistance. The uses for these plates include: rack systems, high temp fasteners, aerospace parts, rocket motor nozzles, nuclear energy, satellite structural/thermal management, and glass manufacturing.

One of the most common uses of Carbon-Carbon plates is in the heat treatment industry. Because Carbon-Carbon is designed to exceed temperature capabilities of super-alloys and can withstand temperatures of well over 2000ºC (3600F) without losing strength and rigidity it becomes the perfect material for the heat treatment industry. C/C composite material also has low thermal mass, high strength-to-weight ratio at temperature and negligible thermal deformation which creates favorable net/tare load weight ratios when used for fixtures and grids. Additionally, C/C racks and fixtures are 50-70% lighter in weight than conventional materials. By allowing for a more compact fixture design, more material can be loaded into the furnace with each run resulting in a large increase of productivity. Carbon-Carbon plates can be precisely machined to meet production objectives.

Graphitestore is expanding its pyrolytic graphite discs and plates which are now available in three different materials: Substrate Nucleated (PG-SN), Continuously Nucleated (PG-CN), and High Conductivity Substrate Nucleated (PG-HT). Continuously Nucleated (PG-CN) material has physical properties 15-20% higher than that of Substrate Nucleated. That is why PG-CN is preferred when the application requires a higher compression load. Uses range across metal processing, closed die forging, electronics, or aerospace applications. The Substrate Nucleated – High Conductivity (PG-HT) grade is similar to Substrate Nucleated (SN) grade of pyrolytic graphite but is thermally annealed to increase thermal conductivity. The increase in conductivity is about four times that of PG-SN grade or more than four times better than copper.

Graphitestore is expanding its Fuel cell components category by introducing carbon cloth and carbon paper products. Referred to as Gas Diffusion Layers (GDL), these materials are commonly used as key components in various types of fuel cells, including Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM), Direct Methanol (DMFC) and Phosphoric Acid (PAFC) stacks. In fuel cells these thin, porous sheet must provide high electrical and thermal conductivity and chemical / corrosion resistance, in addition to controlling the proper flow of reactant gases (hydrogen and air) and managing the water transport out of the membrane electrode assembly (MEA). This layer must also have controlled compressibility to support the external forces from the assembly, and not deform into the bi-component plate channels to restrict flow.

These new products can be viewed under our Fuel cell components; each item features a brochure and comparison table for further information. Please contact us with any questions or custom inquiries

Friday, September 21, 2007 -- GraphiteStore.com is pleased to announce addition of Sialon tubes to its family of ceramic products: Sialon Tubes - Open Both Ends. Superior to all other ceramic refractories, SIALON - alloy of silicon nitride and aluminum oxide, is extremely tough and recommended for molten metal applications, high wear or high impact environments up to 1250°C. It is non-wetting for most nonferrous metals, gas tight, chemically inert, resistant to corrosion and metal attack and features high strength, hardness and thermal shock resistance.

Sialon thermocouples are used extensively for continuous temperature measurement in non-ferrous metals. In molten aluminum and aluminum alloys, Sialon does not contaminate the melt, provides for continuous, reliable temperature measurement and is resistant to degradation even in aggressive aluminum lithium alloys. Excellent corrosion resistance of Sialon allows for the use of thinner walls, thereby providing faster response time and improved accuracy.

Sialon is a reliable and consistent vehicle for degassing non-ferrous molten metals. Resistance to thermal shock, erosion and corrosion by chlorine at high temperatures provides extended service life and consistent gas diffusion.

Sialon low pressure stalk (LPS) tubes provide performance-cost advantages to aluminum die casters. They do not require pretreatments or coatings; they won't contaminate the melt and will reduce downtime.

Monday, July 23, 2007 -- Reflecting on growing demand for Pyrolytic Graphite, GraphiteStore.com is pleased to announce addition of two new product types: Substrate Nucleated discs (PG-SN) and Substrate Nucleated plates (PG-SN). Pyrolytic Graphite is a unique form of graphite manufactured by decomposition of a hydrocarbon gas at very high temperature in a vacuum furnace. The result is an ultra-pure product which is near theoretical density and extremely anisotropic. The material is grown onto a substrate giving it a layered composition. This also means it has different properties in different planes. In the C plane (across its layers) it has low thermal conductivity, acting as an insulator. In the A-B plane (with the layers) it has very high thermal conductivity, acting as a superb conductor.

Pyrolytic Graphite offers high purity, impermeability and is stable to 3000°C. It is used to make sputtering targets, ion beam grids, ion implant hardware, liquid phase epitaxy hardware, thermal insulators, rocket nozzles, etc.

Thursday, May 6, 2004 -- GraphiteStore.com, Inc., a leading online provider of composite carbon, graphite and ceramic products, and OpenRules, Inc. announced today that OpenRules™, the first open source full-scale business rules framework, will enhance GraphiteStore's online marketplace. OpenRules will support marketing promotions and improve cross-selling and up-selling capabilities of GraphiteStore.com, creating a better user experience while improving time-to-market of GraphiteStore's products and services.

Looking for a solution that would make the manufacturing and retail processes more flexible and responsive while leveraging its current IT infrastructure, GraphiteStore recognized earlier that its online operations will require a Business Rule Engine. Such engine will allow the business logic that is embedded in business applications to be represented as rules that can be managed by business users, improving product configuration and accelerating investment in business process management. However, the analysis of the commercial business rules engines had shown that the most of them do not fit GraphiteStore's requirements being unnecessary complicated, difficult to integrate in the GraphiteStore's .Net environment, and prohibitively expensive. The analysis of the capabilities of the new open source business rule engine OpenRulesT had shown that this product along with the services provided by OpenRules, Inc. will deliver a practical, comprehensive while inexpensive solution for the GraphiteStore's needs.

With OpenRules in place, GraphiteStore will empower business managers to configure dynamic stores, in which different combinations of products can be offered to customers based on their practical needs, shopping experience, and in simple customized manner. "Using OpenRules, we will be able to easily and flexibly adjust and fine-tune our product lines and processes without making changes in the system software," said Vladimir Novokhovsky, GraphiteStore's general manager. "With OpenRules, we express our business rules in an intuitive format using just MS Excel familiar to any business specialist. No learning of any new tools or languages is required. Therefore, rules can be easily changed by business specialists without IT involvement. This enables GraphiteStore not only to be more efficient, but also to be more responsive to the constantly changing and expanding product lines."

OpenRules, Inc. expects that after an initial OpenRules™ deployment as a part of GraphiteStore.com, the product will also enable other manufacturers and retailers in global trade to configure, maintain and change their business processes with increased agility in response to business growth and other dynamic business demands.
